Please any advice.... My son wrote off his car the car was worth £1500 ( thats what he had paid 2 months prior) he had fully comp insurance which cost £1400.
He has been told by the Insurance company that they have cancelled his policy  ( he did not want to cancel it but keep it going for a future car )
Now he has been told he has to pay the £750 excess ( as agreed ) but pay the outstanding balance £1000 ish ...
So not only has he lost his car but is out of pocket too...
any advice if this is how insurance company's work

The excess is of course deducted from the settlement, and it is a standard condition that any outstanding instalments are also deducted after a total loss.
Although they are technically entitled to cancel the policy after a total loss, it is normally good customer service to allow a reasonable amount of time in which a substitute vehicle can added to the policy.
Have they given a reason for cancellation of the policy?0 -

Ask them politely whether they will allow a reasonable amount of time - two weeks is not uncommon - to add a substitute vehicle to the policy.
If they don't - complain!0 -
they wont let me add another car...:(
So will make a complaint !!I would love to be a Travel Agent :j0 -
I think you may find this is in the small print that no one (well almost no one) ever reads."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
