  • Good Morning everyone, pleased to report that DD1 is much better now and feeling human again. We have DD2 and the Zebra child coming to visit today and as a real treat I've saved up and we have booked afternoon tea at a nice hotel who are happy to have the baby along too so I'm looking forward to it lots. Home again on Friday and that will be nice as I'm missing the lads now and 'my' patch too. Tomorrow is A level results day so I'm pleased to be here for the Teacher who has to deal with the highs and lows of that with the pupils and sort out any problems that crop up, teachers suffer too in this and work very hard to try to help disappointed pupils and their families and make the best of difficult situations and give guidance where they are able.

Have yourselves a good day everyone, Lyn xxx.
  • Good morning everyone.

So sorry about your bad night, dandy-candy, and hope you will manage to keep busy until your appointment with the counsellor. It sounds like you're doing all the right things to take care of yourself at this difficult time.

Candlelight - I'm so shocked that there's so little you can do about the awful dog situation. The owners have a lot to answer for - if you choose to keep dogs you have to take full responsibility for them, including keeping them in your own garden and minimising barking. My ex-MIL was terrible in this regard - her dog drove the neighbours insane with it barking all day while she was at work, and she just wouldn't believe it. The neighbour (on bed rest for six months during a difficult pregnancy) recorded it and the council took some sort of action eventually. Her other dog bit my son's face when he was a baby - but apparently it was my son's fault for moving suddenly . It turned out the dog had a brain tumour and was put down, and luckily there was no lasting damage, but I've never trusted dogs since.

Anyway, I got a good soaking on my walk into work (I bought a great new umbrella last week - my old one was barely big enough to cover a child - but when it's windy my legs and feet still get soaked). This was probably punishment for the fact that I was insanely angry with DH this morning for how he keeps untidying everything - we live in a very small house with very little storage so things need to be done fairly scientifically. The understairs cupboard looked like a burglar had ransacked it. I didn't vent my anger on him because he was still asleep when I left for work but I sent him a snarky text message instead which was probably nearly as bad :(

My boss is in a foul mood and I'm stuck in the office because there's no students about. I've only got the rest of today and then tomorrow, but time is going very slowly.

I've got a very spendy appointment for a Thai massage later today - it's the ONLY thing which keeps my headaches at bay, and I wouldn't be able to work full-time if I still had headaches like I used to (they could last six days and be completely resistant to all painkillers). I've been thinking about ways of duplicating the specific effect of the massage through exercises I do myself - I'll do some research and see if I can find any YouTube videos.

I've brought my lunch again - so proud of myself :j.

A friend is coming for tea tonight and I've avoided buying food specially by using up some Mr A tandoori chicken leg pieces in a HM curry with bits of leftover vegetables and some coconut milk. I always used to buy the chicken (from the halal counter) and it used to be amazing but this last lot I bought seems a lot tougher. It's fine with long slow cooking but I used to like it quickly fried and it's too tough for that.

Sorry for writing so much! :p
  • Sorry if my posts are a downer to read, please skip them if you want. I hate being myself at times like this so I'm sure it isn't any fun for anyone else to listen to me!

We are all here for you dandy-candy, talk about this as much as you want/need.

    Hugs

    Morning,

    Thinking of you Dandy.
Candlelight - Dreadful nothing is seemingly done about the dogs.

I too am apprehensive about DS2's AS results. As you may remember we had some trouble and he ended up sitting just two of the four and was only allowed to attend one of those lessons for the the last 2-3months. I am not expecting great results but at least for him he doesn't need them for his college course. Luckily his GCSEs were very good.
Fingers crossed for everyone else's A/AS people :)

Washing on the line and two cakes in the oven.
I wanted to mow the lawn but remembered I broke it just before we went away so I have asked on Freecycle. It doesn't seem worth buying a new one as our lawn is only about 12ft square!

Need to go and buy bread and milk later. Might pop and see Dad on the way.

    Have a good day all.

    Morning all,

offload to us if it helps Dandy. I think we all do it from time to time... well I know I do anyway. I find it helps me put my thoughts into words.

Candlelight shame on your awful neighbours for having no control over their dogs. Have they no shame? Many years ago when my one neighbour was married to the awful woman he had children with (who were equally as awful as she was) they had an awful rottie. They made it mean by teasing it but it was a loyal dog to them but it made him very aggressive to others. People who came to our door got the shock of their lives to see this snarling dog jumping up the fence wanting to attack them. In the end we put up a 6ft solid fence between us and next door. Problem solved... though there was one incident where I went out of my front door to find this huge rottie standing outside my front door snapping and snarling at me. Funnily enough, they couldn't see what was the problem.....Thank goodness she left and took her awful kids and dog with her.

Usual chores for a Wednesday. Youngest doesn't know it but he's off up the loft this afternoon. The Christmas tree is going. I want a new small one. The one we have is 6ft tall and since we don't have the room for it in the living room now we have had the new (huge) sofas ive told hubby we either have a small tree this year or none at all. I'm not shuffling up sofas to make room for a tree that's too big for the room. Ive got two coffee tables that have to go too. I guess you can say I haven't finished chucking out yet. I'll get my house as I want it if it kills me!

Right, less of the waffling ive got the beds to strip and laundry to do.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

dandy-candy (((HUGS))) I for one know what it's like to have no-one in RL to talk to. Men are, I'm afraid, totally differently wired from women; they can cope with things they can fix, but emotional stuff is not so easy for them. Let it all out here; sweetie. We can't solve it for you, but we can offer a ton of support and coping vibes.

Candlelight I'm appalled! I'd be mortified if one of my canine guests behaved so badly; I've always said there's no such thing as a bad dog, but there sure are some atrocious owners! I hope your DH is ok now.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Crossing fingers for you and you are not a downer!!!!

    Candlelight

Can't believe nothing can be done about the dogs. Surely there has been new legislation about dangerous dogs entering private property. Would it be worth contacting police community person?

DDs have been baking and we are having tea in fancy cups and cakes while watching bake off tonight as a treat. I plan to make a beef and mushroom pie with green veg and have defrosted pastry.

Answered the door and dd and fianc! had sent me a bottle of champagne and a fancy balloon which was so sweet and unexpected.

Fingers crossed for DH's hospital appointment tomorrow for scan results and DD's job interview.

    Hugs to all

  • Hi all
    Is it bedtime yet?
It drives me mad when an already busy day is made much worse by people who can't do their job properly.
DGD stayed the night, went to bed at 8 & slept 'til 7:30, we got up had breakfast, I phoned to make a Dr's appointment for hubby.
Dropped hubby at Dr's, dropped DGD home, collected hubby from Dr's with prescription, went to chemist with prescription, paid £16, one item discontinued, went back to Dr's new prescription wouldn't be ready 'til 2.
Went home, phoned insurance company re unwanted policy renewal, they wanted to charge me a cancellation fee, 15 minute argument as I'm not cancelling, just not renewing!
Made lunch, DD phoned, she had to go & collect a delivery that she was waiting in for had been wrongly delivered, could she collect it! She didn't have room in her car for kids plus delivery, so we had all 3 DGC for an hour, gave them lunch. DD collected DGC.
I took hubby to work, went back to Dr's to collect prescription, what prescription? No trace of it, took 30 mins to sort it out, back to chemist, 10 minute wait.
Went to CS for 10 minutes, back to chemist, no trace of prescription, took 20 minutes to sort out.
In between this I've cooked & pickled 6 jars of beetroot, made another batch of ready meals for hubby's lunches & got 2 loads of washing dry.
    I think it's time I had a Nana nap!
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Hi all,

Thank you all so much for your kindness.

The dog Warden has been and taken a statement from Himself. She is going to visit neighbours again tomorrow to warn them yet again if they don't keep dogs under control she will take it further. She was a lovely lady and very re-assuring and she says she could take it to court if needs be. I hope it won't get to that, I just want them to be responsible dog owners and control the dogs. Hopefully we will be able to tidy the bottom end of our garden soon without feeling threatened.

I am relieved that is over with now, going to have a cuppa.

    Thank you once again

    Candlelightx
  • dandycandy, we are here so you rant away if you want to xxx

Candlelight glad you got things sorted, some people do not deserve to be dog owners

LW ((Hugs)) for Mr LW and wishing him a speedy recovery x

Molly I hope you are ok x

    Hilly (((hugs)))

Didn't get on yesterday, I have been feeling out of it for a couple of days, I just want to sleep all day.
I will talk to the GP on Monday about it when I have my meds review.

DD brought six loads of washing down yesterday and I have been trawling through that, the last of it is on the line and I am hoping that it doesn't rain.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
