Sports direct problem.

Hello, firstly I am new here and I did not really know where this post woulf fit so I came here. I wonder if anyone can help please, as I am not sure what to do.

On Friday 1st August I went to sports direct and bought what I thought was a rain mac. When we got back to the car I realised it was trousers. Within 30 minutes of buying them I took them back and they refunded me back on to my chip and sign card, which is what I used to pay.
It was almost close of business but they did it fine.
I have waited over a week for the refund to go back in to my bank. I checked my online bank statement and it has come up with 8th August +8.99 and the 11th August -8.99. I bought them on the 1st.
Anyway I know what I am spending right down to the penny and I am missing this £8.99 the bank said I have been refunded which I clearly have but where has my nine pounds gone?
I think they refunded me straight away the same day then took the original payment on the 11th thus taking my £8.99. I went to sports direct, the lady was great, but she called her manager and he basically called me a liar even though I showed him the statement, whereas his colleague totally understood what I was saying.
Can anybody advise please
Thank you
Am I making any sense ?

So you had £8.99 added to your account on the 8th of August as a credit and then on the 11th they took £8.99?

It just means your credit hit before they actually took the money, which means you are back in the situation you started in.

If it isn't that then no, you're not making any sense :)

Are you saying there was another 8.99 taken on 1st August as well?

I think the OP means they paid 8.99 for the item in the shop, then got a refund the same day, which showed up back in the account on the 8th August.

They then took the money again on the 11th Aug (reversed refund) so the OP is now 8.99 down and no item.

OP, did you get a receipt for the refund? Take it back into them and insist on them giving the refund. If they refuse, you'll have to send a letter before action.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

You could also try disputing the second transaction with your bank. No idea if that will work, but its worth a shot.

So there definitely is 3 transactions? one refunding 8.99 and two debiting 8.99?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Ironically the only time I've needed to take something back I got a refund, no questions asked, maybe I just got lucky :D

Are you sure the money left on the 1st, and it wasn't just ring fenced by the bank and then released? Is there definitely a line on the 1st saying the money has been taken.

Often where there is a refund and charge on the same day, the refund will come through first. It is also relatively unusual for a transaction to hit your bank on the same day as it was made (although possible it can be backdated to show the transaction date)
