I am looking for a credit card that will allow me to add my girlfriend as an additional card holder...I just tried to apply for a Santander 123 credit card and it says that the additional card holder must be immediate family.
Any suggestions?

Haven't gone through an application, but their FAQ says they must reside at the applicant's address.forgotmyname wrote: »Common law option? Had no issues having additional card holders.0 -
Just say she lives at your address - they won't do a search on her, the account is entirely accountable to you as the account holder - it isn't like a joint current account or mortgage where you're jointly and severally liable for any debt and account decisions. Be warned this does mean that if she goes off on a bender and runs up thousands on the card, its on your head to pay it off - not her.0

During the application it says the following:
To add another cardholder, they must be:
18 years old or over
living at the same address as you
part of your immediate family
happy for you to give us their details0 -
AmEx allow you to give anyone a card to your account and just remind you that you are 100% liable if your PA/ dog walker etc goes on a spending spree on it0

The crucial thing to remember is not to let your heart rule your head. You will be fully liable for all expenditure on the card.I am looking for a credit card that will allow me to add my girlfriend as an additional card holder...I just tried to apply for a Santander 123 credit card and it says that the additional card holder must be immediate family.

Fair enough - we've been living together for 5 years...I did find it a little strange that it specified that it must be part of my immediate family....I'll just proceed with the application.
Yes I am fully aware that I am the one liable - I was the one to suggest it to make managing our finances easier.0 -
Is there any reason why she cannot have a card in her own name?
Better for you and better for her in the long run.0
