Capital One Arrangement to Pay finished 2005 - Can I get it removed?

Just ran a credit report and Equifax is showing an AP with Capital One dating back to 2005. I don't remember this and all I know is I was earning good money at the time and saving plenty.
On the report it shows the AP for the first two months (aug /sep 2005) and then all OKs until closed 4 years later.
The account was closed in 2009 so as far as I can tell this stays on my credit rating for 6 years.
As I'm applying for a mortgage I'd obviously like to have this removed ASAP.
I've had a quick look around the boards there's plenty of mention but all the situations I found were a little different to mine.
Can someone point me in the right direction as to what I need to do.
Thanks in advance, Chris

I'm actually wondering now whether this could date back further. I had that credit card from 1998. I know I was travelling and other stuff around that time so maybe I did have an AP.
If this is the case, why should this thing be hanging around my neck 16 years later? How do I get it removed?0 -
It's going to be tricky unless you have the details of why you had an AP.
When's it due to drop off your report?
This could take months to a year to sort, even if you had the details of a complaint now.
If this is the only thing on your report you should get a mortgage. Pop over to the mortgage board to see whether you should be ok for a mainstream bank or best go with a broker.
If you want to pursue it, best send a subject access request to see what they have as it may tell you more about the AP. If they have no records, you could complain to get the account removed as they can't back up what they are reporting.:beer:0 -

Not really sure. If it is 6 years after the CC account was closed that's another year.
If it is 6 years after the AP finished that should have been 2011.
Who do I need to contact? Equifax or Capital One. And isn't there some ICO ruling on this?0 -
Strange. Having spoken to Capital One they seem to be having great difficulty retrieving any record of an Arrangement to Pay. Doesn't seem to be a problem for Equifax though...0

Equifax report what cap one tell them. Challenge it via a complaint to cap one in writing.:beer:0 -

6 years from a default or when the account is settled. ICO ruling in what in particular?:beer:0
