Hyundai I10 servicing?

I bought a new Hyundai I10 3 years ago and with it came 3 years servicing and it's first MOT.

It also has a 5 year warranty from Hyundai.

Now I have to pay for the servicing and MOT and of course the dealer is not cheap for the servicing and charge the max for the MOT.

I can go to a local 2 man garage and get it done for half the price the dealer would charge.

I used to go there with my old banger,

I don't intend buying another car, this was my retirement present to myself.

Given that I am not concerned about the resale value and that I only drive about 7,000 miles a year should I abandon the dealer and go with my local garage or wait another 2 years until the manufactures's warranty runs out?
over 73 but not over the hill.

This question comes up time and again. Legally, you don't have to use a main dealer in order to preserve the warranty ( the law was changed some time ago to prevent the main dealers having such a monopoly ). You do need to use a proper vat-registered garage, and they must fit genuine parts. So keep all receipts. So long as this is the case, the dealers are *supposed* to honour the warranty.

But there is a school of thought that says if you stick with a main dealer, then they have absolutely no basis for quibbling over any warranty claims, so it could save you some hassle should you ever need to make a claim. How much extra are you prepared to pay for the avoidance of potential hassle ?

I have a Hyundai, and have never used main dealers, except for warranty work, my local dealer was brilliant for this, on the few occasions it needed work, they never quibbled.
