Credit report showing payments as late.

Hi all, New user here so please bear with me if this has been covered before. Today, I joined experian to get hold of my credit report and was saw that one of my agreements shows 7 payments as being paid late in the last year. This surprised me as all my payments have been on time and never late. Further more, they show late for one month and then clear the next. So january would show as late but february would be up to date. This carries on month-on month-off.
On looking further i noticed that it was repeated exactly the same for the previous two years.
I am currently trying to get a mortgage and the lender has said no due to recent payments being made late. I also applied for a loan last year and could only get accepted for one at 29.9% APR!
I have never had any problems financially and have other credit agreements which again, are all up to date.
I have spoken to the lender and experian, who are now looking into it, but my question is do I have any reason to pursue damages/compensation (possibly not the right words to use) against the lender for causing my credit rating to be poor due to their mistakes in informing the credit reporting agency?
Again, sorry if this is answered elsewhere, and many thanks in advance.

it's Ford Credit as it's for a car.
It doesn't show up at all on Equifax.....0 -
In these type of cases and assuming they agree that the entries are incorrect the lender will sometimes offer a small goodwill gesture (maybe £50 - £100).
It is usually impossible to prove that such an entry is the sole reason for being declined, or for be offered a particular interest rate so very difficult to quantify any potential loss.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thank you Tixy. While i kind of know it is this that i have been refused for, it will as you say be difficult to prove it. No harm in asking though i suppose.0
