Home mover mortgage difficulty

Options
We live in Scotland and are trying very hard to buy a bigger house, but I'm failing! We had mortgage payment problems nearly two years ago, I have two defaults and my husband has 1 but all now cleared and also over a year ago. No other significant debts and a joint income of over 45k. Where am I going wrong? Is there any hope?

Care to expand on what constitutes mortgage payment problems?

Date of your defaults, amounts and dates settled.

Your issues more than likely are going to be related to the above.

Around three years ago I was a bit financially stretched so there was some missed payments, they were also paying more into my loan account than my mortgage account and I'm having problems getting them to sort it out. The bottom line is they're saying it was 12 months in arrears but wouldn't I have been evicted if it was that bad. I got things back on track nearly two years ago but it's all sending me a little crazy! Thanks

You need to find a good broker, this sounds quite complex, depending on LTV, as the defaults are "historic" there may be lenders, but won't be easy.

Unfortunately, if your credit file says you did not pay for 12 months, a lender is not going to take your word that was not the case.

You may have problems getting your current lender to sort it out, but sort it out you must do.

Credit report says 6 months, would that still be a problem? Thanks

    I would think so.

If it is wrong get it put right. Or are you saying you were in arrears for 6 but not 12 months.

The letter I got in reply to mortgage company says it was 12 months in arrears but credit report states 6 months.

Either way you are on a sticky wicket. Consultant a mortgage broker than specialises in adverse credit cases, and covers Scotland (many specialist lenders will not lend in Scotland)

I'm dealing with London and Country and I've been referred to their specialist adverse credit team, I'm just feeling a bit at the end if my tether and not sure if it'll be worthwhile.

as you have selected them, you should bear with them.

It is a bit ambitious to look to scale up within 24 months of major mortgage payment problems.
