Brambles

Options
I've just picked up some fresh brambles from my garden. What can I do with them other then crumble?
Any ideas, please?

apart from the usual crumble or tart or jam - stewed, the berries make a lovely addition to ice cream. use instead of strawberries to make an 'eton mess. (actually - I might do that next time grandkids sleepover - they would love making that).
fresh berries are lovely with your morning cereal too. personally I think that anything you can do with strawberries or raspberries you can do with blackberries (brambles).

you are welcome hun - and I was coming back to say if you have an ice cream maker - make some plain vanilla Icecream, stew the berries and pass through a sieve, when the ice cream is nearly ready stir it through but not completely. Bramble ripple! or you can make a sorbet using the instructions for raspberry sorbet.

They make great jam, and also wine. Plus you can make slightly more exotic preserves like Blackberry Vinegar, which is excellent for sore throats & coughs in winter.

I love fresh blackberries mixed up with low fat value yoghurt instead of cream.I also like them scrunched up with my morning cereal and a little milk on top.Or even mixed in with porridge.I use almost any soft fruit as an addition to a meal. You can evenif you have enough make cordial from them and have with lots of ice cubes in the fridge for a cold drink on a warm day ,or delicious as a thick sauce on top of almost anything, sponge puding is niceI make an apple sponge pudding and slurp a dollop in with the apples before pouring the sponge mix on top. This time of the year foraging for freebie fruit is a must for us OS'ers

I am making cordial this year and will pur!e some with banana and freeze them in small portions so I can make smoothies with them.

If you have freezer space you can also freeze them on a sheet lined with baking paper and then once frozen tip them into a container.
