Voucher Deal Websites - Groupon, 5pm etc

I purchased a mini cruise to Amsterdam as a gift for my parents-in-law from 5pm.co.uk. I printed off the voucher & booking instructions & gave it to them. They tried to book it last week but the website wouldn't let them book. Then we discovered in the small print it states "bookings should be made by 31st July, failure to book by this date may result in you forfeiting the voucher". Now 5pm.co.uk & DFDS are saying the booking cannot be made (even though there is availability on the chosen dates) & I've basically lost all my money. We were only 2 days late & it wasn't exactly made clear at the time of purchase. Is there anything I can do???

When did you buy the voucher? (I.e. How long between purchase and expiry date?)
How small was the small print? Was it in any way hidden?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
