Seriously? You only have one set of teeth (unless you are a small child) and you should invest in them. I don't understand putting off a necessary cost knowing that the problem will only get worse and require further expenditure. People pay 48£ on a coat, a pair of jeans, shoes or a night out but b!tch about it over a necessary medical intervention.

I absolutely agree with this, it also affects the rest of your general heatlh.

I know one thing with certainly, I wish I had looked after mine better when I was younger.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Jeepers reading this thread has given me the answer I needed to know for years now, and also reminded me of the reason I won't go to the dentist

My neighbour and I were talking about this during the week and were wondering how we could find out the cost.
I'm only needing one filling replaced, but have a fear of dentists due to bad experiences.

My neighbour just said she couldn't afford it, and looking here I can't either:eek:

It's a flippin disgrace the cost of dentist needs!

Seriously you need to go for check ups otherize you can end up with loads of dental problems and it can then be too late to do anything but take the teeth out.
I pay £12.00 per month to see a private dentist and I get 2 hygienist visits per year, and 2 dentist check ups and x rays if needed.
I now very rarely need to have anything done because my teeth are looked after better in a preventative manner.
I also brush and floss them properly.
In my opinion its really worth it. I think its saved my teeth and also me a lot of money.

Hold on a minute. Before you start judging everyone, there's a reason why I don't go to the dentist. As said before I have a fear of them but I simply cannot afford it!

I don't spend £48 on a coat or jeans, and I go out once a month with my hubby. That costs us £20 for both of us. Nor do I spend a stupid amount of money on shoes etc. Because I simply cannot afford to.

Do you not think I would have been to the dentist already if I could afford to?? I'm not stupid:mad:

I am not entitled to any help and I am not entitled to any benefits, I know because I have went and asked for help and was turned away.

So before climbing on your high horse and judging me and tarring me with the same brush as others, think about how people are genuinely struggling before lecturing me.

Not high horsing at all, probably just telling you what you don't want to hear ;)
If you have a fear of dentists ask around for a good one, visit the surgery, speak to the dentist and explain your fears. They can treat you based on a comfort level you find acceptable. There is no need to put your health at risk when you live in a country where these services are available and willing to help you. Dentists are largely nice, normal people.
Give them and yourself a break or you may find dealing with the results of neglect far more expensive.
    Best of luck!
