Equifax score and getting a mortgage

Hi had my issues in the past but all in the clear now.
However I had two late payment marks on Experian from 2 years ago from an utility company. Had a serous excuse to be late and is been settled. Is not a default is just markers showing 4 late payments than 6 late payments.
But equyifax score shows as 337 poor whilst experian is excelent 975. and noodle is 3? I m so confused so not sure if I can apply for a mortgage or not with a 10% deposit?
Is there anything else I could do to improve equifax?

Don't worry about the score. No potential lender ever see that.

For a mortgage application it is likely that the mortgage lender will search all 3 credit reference agencies.

If everything on your file is accurate then there is little you can do to improve things.

If you have other credit accounts that show always being paid on time then it is quite likely you will be able to get a mortgage with a couple of missed payment markers.

If only 2 monthly payments were missed then it is odd that your file should be showing as a 4 and then a 6 in the payment history (is that what is showing? usually it would show as up to date, then 1 month behind, then 2 months behind).

  • Hi Tixy,

Thank you. I m not sure why it shows like that. I was on a payment arrangement because I was in hospital 4 shows I was late 4 months. The month after I paid and than it show 6 payments late. So I dont understand. It looks to me that I was 6 months behind which I guess is real bad

Its quite bad, but not as bad as a default.

I would still expect a mortgage broker to be able to find you a lender willing to lend to you if that is the only negative.

I would speak to a broker with copies of your files.

  • Hi Tixy

Thanks. I ll arrange a broker. Yes that is the only thing bad from what I can see that is why I dont understand why the score shows poor.

    Many thanks for your help

Because you don't have a credit score; you're referring to a made up random number in each instance.
  • Thanks guys!

Anyone can recommend a good mortgage broker in Surrey for share ownership?

    Thank you
