Just drive the cars to and from if your insurance has DoC cover.
    with business use of course
  • Wiki has a Smart Fortwo weighing 730kg, maximum un-braked trailers are 750kg. (Yes, you have to have a large motorhome to get the full 750kg un-braked trailer weight.)

Poster who mentioned the Smart previously implied they'd towed using a dolly like the one mentioned in the OP; which would be illegal irrespective of mass as DFT guidance says:
"...if "dollies" are used for the transportation of perfectly functioning vehicles they will need to fitted with an operational braking system."

Additionally, even with an 'A' frame properly installed, DFT guidance says:

"Trailers having a combined axle mass not exceeding 750kg are not required to have brakes fitted. However, if the trailer (regardless of mass) is fitted with a braking system, then all brakes in that system must operate correctly."

So even though the Smart is under 750KG, it'd still need to have operational brakes as it becomes a trailer with the 'A' frame fitted and since it has brakes, they need to work.

The smart is probably under 750kg kerbweight. Whats the gross laden weight which is the important figure.

The only 4 wheel car i know that has a gross laden weight of less than 750kg is the Aixam.

there is alway loads of discussion on 'A frames'. At the end of the day, the are dangerous, illegal. Try it if you want to be frightened on a hill, or a tight corner.

    Ariel Atom? Caterham Superlight?

Not typical tow-behind-your-camper cars, but fun when you arrive.

Having said that, neither kerbweight or GLW are important in this context, either way there are legal implications as I quoted above.

My visions of a campervan owner dont compute to the sort of person that also buys an Atom or Caterham.

Although if it were me i do like the sound of those. I doubt i would be able to get out once i have got in though.

About 5 years ago i went on the gocarts at a theme park in Cornwall. The guy came over and asked me if i was alright. I have disc issues and the pain was quite bad.
