2DS - What age?

Hi

Does anybody's kids have a 2DS? Are they any good and what ages are the kiddies who have them please?

I am trying to decide if one would be any good for my daughter, who is pestering for one... It would be a Christmas present.

Many thanks x

do you mean a Nintendo DS? My DD had hers as a Christmas present when she was 5, my niece got hers the same year when she was 6. I took my DD's one away on holiday this year with me when I had my littlest niece, also aged 5 now, with me. She loved it, and I have to say, through the years its been played with a lot, its still in great condition, and we've not had to replace anything (its a good idea to get some spare stylus for it though, they can easily be misplaced).

If it's a Nintendo ds, I think the youngest age my children were, were around 6 or 7.

A 2DS is like a 3DS but without the 3D screen and not clamshell. It will play all the same games as a 3DS will.

There will be a good range of games suitable for all age groups and as long as her hands are big enough to comfortably hold and operate it I would say it wouldn't be a problem.

Also agree. My wee lad played the older DS for a bit until we updated. He's more than fine with it for games like Lego Batman etc and loved the big brain training so some educational stuff out there too.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

I will try and find reviews for how robust they are and etc.

If it were me I'd be questioning how comfortable it will be for a younger child! In terms of the machine itself the fact it's not a clamshell offers little in the way of protection for the screen, so you'd need to be a little more careful but that's for you to know your child best. In terms of games you're good, there's a multitude of games available for it so I'd have little to no concern there.

If you really want to see it, go to your local games shop & ask to see one, chances are if they're worth their salt they'll have a machine they can show you to make a better judgement.

I agree with this. I had to do that for a completely different issue and the staff were fine about it.

  • Ive got one for my lad for his birthday in a couple weeks, he'll be 6. Its a tesco refurb off ebay, think i paid £60 for it, got 12 months warranty with that. Have had a play on it myself and tbh I love it, comfy to hold and I got him a marvel ipad mini case from b&m for him to keep it in, fits lovely.

My 8 year old daughter saw it the other day and has decided shes asking santa for one for christmas!!

I'd say 4-5 for a 2DS and 7 for a 3DS. Or just go for an iPod touch or a tablet of some kind.
