Is emailing personal/passport info safe?

    The old world solution was much simpler. Make two photocopies of Passport details, credit cards, travellers cheques numbers, etc. Leave one set at home in an envelope near the phone along with original birth certificate and any other irreplacables. Take the second set with you sealed in plastic envelope in your toilet bag.

    If you lose the travelling set (along with originals) - you phone home and ask them to cancel your credit cards and travellers cheques. Much easier and less stressful than attempting while on the road. Contact the local British Embassy or Consulate for a replacement passport.
