Three sim using aborad pay and go?

Hi,
I have recently visited a local three shop and inquired about using "feel at home" in US. I asked him if I could buy a pay and go sim, top it up and take it abroad to use it?
The shop assistant said no I cannot do that and I have to have the sim card for atleast 2 months prior to use with regular top ups which sounded like a lie.
Please, can someone advise as I think he fed me load of BS.
Many thanks

He attempted to feed you.
PAYG works immediately. Though you need to buy an allowance, not just top up.0 -
Ok so you are confirming it will work

SIM only customers must have been with Three for more than 30 days. If you're on Pay As You Go you have to convert your credit into an Add-on. You can then use the allowance in America.0

Worked for me. Bought a £15 add on which lasted for 30 days giving me 300 minutes, 3000 texts and unlimited data used in USA.Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama
