Abbey National screwed up again.

Update - the completed forms from the Financial Ombudsman arrived today - I only contacted them on Tuesday afternoon, nice to know that someone is efficient! Of course there has been absolutely no communication from Visa in this whole sorry affair - or Abbey since Monday when they jacked up our overdraft. Visa promised faithfully on Monday that I would have a call back within 48 hours - and they have all 3 of my contact numbers on file.
In the meantime we're not using the account at all (which is a shame as it's where both our salaries go in and all the bills are paid from) and I'm too scared to go online and check anything yet.
I'd love to go and open another joint account with another bank - but will we have problems with this as OH is on a DMP? And will another bank accept our custom while this dispute is going on?:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Who actually runs Abbey's credit cards?0

I'm guessing at Visa seeing as the bank is blaming Visa.regularsaver1 wrote: »Who actually runs Abbey's credit cards?0 -
Well it was a number that Abbey gave me to ring, and as they were blaming Visa for the c*ck up I was assuming that's who it was - who knows? I'm sick of the whole thing now.Do you really mean Visa promised you? How did you get hold of them? The company Visa only deals with the banks generally.
Still, on the good side, I'll be taking 2 accounts away from them, DD1 is moving her 2, DD2 is taking 4 away from them, an I talked someone else out of taking their business there today - only a few acounts know, but it's a start!
It says Visa on my debit card - I haven't got a credit card with Abbey.:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Isn't that more the symbol?
Barclaycard run Barclays credit cards (seen visa and mastercard)
Halifax card services run Halifax's
Britannia don;t do their own credit card - I think HBOS do it
I guess Abbey don't do their own0 -
And you stopped me too and no doubt quite a few other readers of this thread. I'll definitely keep away.Still, on the good side, I'll be taking 2 accounts away from them, DD1 is moving her 2, DD2 is taking 4 away from them, an I talked someone else out of taking their business there today - only a few acounts know, but it's a start!0 -
So has anyone got any ideas for a good bank account - and will they take a joint account with me and my OH, who is on a DMP? It's all paid up to date (I see to that!) And can I just open another account and transfer everything over and leave the Abbey one to rot (we have a bit of an overdraft on there which is coming down) or do we have to wait until it's in credit?:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Im certainly switching all things from Abbey including my direct debits! I've been into A&L and Nationwide today, I think A&L just tips the balance. Will they credit score us to get a new bank account? I'm thinking that OH's DMP will go against us, and certainly the mess that Abbey/Visa have createdd for us will not help matters at all.
Just got in from work to a letter from Abbey - telling us we have incurred charges and are now £1945.23 overdrawn! After trying to get through on the phone for 15 minutes I spoke to the first helpful person I've encountered at Abbey - he said he will get the charges reversed (which the woman assured me would happen on Tuesday and obviously they haven't) and definately get someone from Visa or the Fraud Dept to ring me back!
I'm not at all hopeful.

Someone said today that it is MBNA that runs the credit cards for Abbey - are you able to contact them rather than visa?0
-
I haven't got any details for them, and the mood I'm in it's probably best I don't talk to them! All I've had from these so called customer service centres is that they can't help!regularsaver1 wrote: »Someone said today that it is MBNA that runs the crecit cards for Abbey - are you able to contact them rather than visa?
On the plus side,we've just applied online for an Alliance and Leicester Premier Account (the online one) and been accepted! Although they won't give us an overdraft facility but said they will match what we had with our previous bank - I hope they don't give us a £2300 overdraft!!!!! So surely they WILL be giving us an overdraft? They wouldn't give us a credit card either but I didn't apply for one anyway!
So - my next question - will they leave the account in debit at Abbey for us to pay off?:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j
