well not any that let you away with mismanaging your money which is what it seems you are after. on previous thread ("cant believe banks get away with this" ) you say you paid money in same day, now its next day??

first step of managing your money is knowing whats going on in your accounts. you have had a statement and you still dont know whats happening. little wonder you went overdrawn.

Agree cent percent with DC. Annalisa, if you've posted this, hoping for people to support you on this one, I'm afraid you're not going to get too much. I also hold accounts with Abbey, and sincerely believe that unorganised people should be charged whatever it takes, as this in turn, subsidizes the other organised lot, and they manage to hold bank accounts without incurring any charge.

I think that banks should only be able to charge you 100% of the overdrawn amount up to a limit of their normal referral charge per full working day that you are overdrawn.

That means that if you go overdrawn by £10 then you should only be charged £10, but yet if you go overdrawn by £300 and the normal referral charge is £30 then you get charged £30.
It would be fairer to people trying to get themselves out of debt. Howver the threat of a charge would still exist. I'd say charges affect the less well off harder that they affect the rich.

I too have a business account with the Abbey . I do not have an authorised overdraft (nor do I want one thank you;) ) A few months ago I was distressed to get a statement that showed a bank charge for an item they had paid against uncleared funds. I fully understand the banking system as I once worked in a bank, however, I rang the bank anyway and asked them to look at it for me. Basically as the cheque I'd deposited had cleared the day after the charge and it was the only time it had ever happened on my account and the fact that I had in credit, although "unavailable" on the day - they refunded my charge.

I think if you make a genuine mistake they will refund you (once or twice tops) but you have to be nice when you call - its no good being abusive and threatening to leave. I have found it a good place for my business account and there are no monthly charges as with so many other business banks.
