Hi, I'm looking to book a hotel for 2 adults, 2 children and a baby, ages are 6y 5y and 6 months. It's for 2 nights next week.
I am searching on 3rd party sites to get some idea of cost and availabillity around York but most family rooms say 2 adult 2 children or the other thing is I get recommended 2 rooms usually a double and a family room, obviously this is double the cost aswell!
Can I book 1 family room for 2 adults and 2 children and just turn up with our 6 month old and a travel cot? Does our baby count as a head?
Any advice will be much appreciated!

I have 3 children as well, and I know that Travelodge and Premier Inn did not count the baby until they were 2.0

Travelodge family rooms allow 5 in Family Rooms, as per their T&Cs
Family Rooms:
Maximum number of occupants is 5 (including babies & children), in the following combinations:
2 adults, 2 children (under 16) and 1 baby in a cot
3 adults, 1 child or 1 baby in a cot (cots are available at some Hotels, depending on availability)
2 adults, 2 babies in cots (dependant on space available in the room)
You should speak directly to the Hotel to confirm availability of cots and room size
Not all Travelodges have family rooms though... not sure about the ones around York.
Premier Inn don't, although there was a thread on this board recently where several people said they'd got away with it.
From their T & Cs
The maximum room occupancy is 2 adults. Family rooms (where available) can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children (under the age of 16). You must not exceed the maximum occupancy for the room allocated to you.

I booked a family room with Premier in which is 2 adult 2 children and there was an option to select a cot so I did that and asume this means it is fine for a baby? The family rooms will come standard with enough beds for 4 so selecting the cot option must mean a baby can stay to?0 -
Having a family of five myself I have always found it best to ring and ask. Often online shows a maximum of four but often if you ring and ask what they have available for a family of five they give you options of added z beds etc. If you put 2 adults and 3 children in search engines you are usually only offered multiple rooms.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0
