Watch tarnished after 7 months - advice please

On 14th of January 2014, I purchased a Lipsy watch from Watchshop website, this is a rose gold coloured bracket watch.
Whilst we were away on holiday last week my wife noticed that the watch had turned her wrist green, so took it off, on inspection she noticed that the strap had tarnished.
As the watch is only 7 months we were wondering would this be covered under the guarantee, as when I when we went into a jewellers to look a purchasing a new watch as this one was turning her wrist green, the jeweller said this should not have happened and said to contact where we bought it from as Lipsy watches were normally a good watch.
What would be my best course of action.
Just to mention the watch only cost me £40, but still this shouldn't have happened.
Here is a couple of pictures so you can see what I mean.

You say you were on holiday, was your wife using any mosquito repellent?
Some of these products can have a nasty effect on all sorts of things.
Or maybe suncream could have caused it?
TBH, I never wear decent watches - with metal or leather straps - on holidays.
I take one of these:

TBH, you wouldn't believe the amount of gunk it collects on the back from suncream & sweat.
As you've had advice to contact Lipsy, why not do that and see what they say?0 -
Skin turning green in itself isnt really a problem, its the natural reaction of some of the oxides in the metal and the natural acids in your skin which results in the green colour. It can happen with high end jewelry as much as budget ones, large sterling silver items are particularly prone to it.
The solution is keeping it absolutely spotlessly clean and no signs of tarnish at all but if you cannot be bothered with daily cleaning then a simple coat of clear nail varnish on the inside where the skin contact is will stop the green skin issue.
As to the tarnishing on the watch itself, its hard to see from the photos. Have you actually tried cleaning it?0 -

Sorry to say this, but you got what you paid for !
I have a genuine Tag watch, it is ten years old and has been faultless. A friend has a "genuine fake" Tag - when it rains his wrist goes green !!!!0 -

A £40 watch is not a quality watch in any way...............Much of the purchase price will be taken up by royalties for the use of a "fashion" brand name. The watch itself will account for very little of the purchase price.
After all, you did say in your OP "only cost me £40".......(my highlighting)0
