Incorrect advertising
Looking for advice!
Recently heard an advert on the radio for a great deal on a new car - I telephoned the dealer who confirmed the deal and I agreed to go in and have a test drive. After the drive the dealer informed me that the radio ad was infact last quarters deal and was no longer valid. We left saying we were not going to proceed with the sale. Following a couple of phone calls the following days we were offered another deal and we signed up.
However the original ad was not immediately removed from the website and is still running on the radio 4 weeks later - on calculating I will have paid over £1300 more for the car than the deal I originally went in to sign up for - can I complain and will it get me anywhere? I feel like they are just enticing customers in with the deal and clearly it was just last quarters deal!

That's the purpose of adverts, to entice the prospective.
You don't sign to anything if you are not happy with the deal on the table.0 -
But surely it's false advertising - fair enough if was a mistake which they said it was and they said would withdraw web/radio ads but they clearly haven't?0

Sometimes the broadcasters add extra plays of ads for free to fill gaps, so first you need to prove the dealer/manufacturer approved those broadcasts.
Either way, the advert was superceded by the actual deal with you discussed and agreed with the dealer.0 -
Maybe the deal was unavailable at the time you went to buy the car, but became available a few weeks later?
Either way, the price you pay is a negotiation. If you weren't happy with the price at the time you could have walked out. You might well have found the deal magically became available again!
Who is the dealer? Independent or chain? If it's a chain, you might have some luck complaining to head office, but any refund is going to come out of goodwill. I doubt you have any legal remedy.0 -
I see lots of car ads stating "zero road tax", seeing as road tax doesn't exist, is this false advertising?
The say anything to get you into the showroom..“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
