Talk talk contract not cancelled and student moved out of house

Options
My daughter has moved into a student house with three other girls, they are currently paying £11 a month each for tv, phone and internet on an 18 month contract that was taken by the girl who has now moved out. This seems very expensive, they remaining three girls have tried to contact her and asked her to cancel it but she isn't replying to them, her name is still on the bills, but one of the other girls who is still in the house has been paying it on direct debit from her own account. Not really sure what to do about this, I wonder if the girl still refuses to answer them and to cancel the contract if she would be liable to pay as the contract is in her name, if the remaining girls say they are going to stop paying, or will they automatically become liable for it?

We are not sure if talk talk will discuss this with my daughter as it isn't her account? Has anyone else has a similar problem, if so how did you deal with it?

Thanks

Cancel the DD, inform the errant mover and let it all boil over.

Do consider that the line will not be immediately cancelled or handed over to new provider. Getting a new line will most likely cost.

And there will be a new minimum contract, when they switch to someone else.

And those other factors might mean that it is better sticking to what's there now.

Virgin media do a reasonable broadband deal for students, unlimited downloads etc £22 per month for a 9 month initial contract and then on a rolling basis until cancelled. My youngest has just done this for a year and everything ran well from installation to cancellation(broadband only no phone)

If the contract is in the name of the girl who's moved out, it will be her responsibility, and whoever is left will not be liable for any of it. If you stop paying, the person named on the contract will get defaults.
