Coventry mortgage application

Options
We have just applied for a mortgage with the Coventry BS and have paid the fee to process the mortgage. Has anyone else any experience with them and how long things took?

We find the service at CBS steady rather than swift.

We do not normally get undue delays.

If you applied direct you may find you get a different experience.

Thank you both. As we have applied through a broker I wasn't sure if it would be ok to call CBS directly myself. I have called and they said they are working on applications from the 6th and ours only went in yesterday apparently. It was more some sort of timescale of how long start of application to mortgage offer was.

Direct all communication via your broker, including requests for updates.

The rule is, do not contact the Lender direct if you are using a broker as this can lead to confusion and problems.

Don't be like our client who told the Lender 'no it's definitely a freehold flat' (it wasn't) CASE CLOSED - START AGAIN

The truth is that Coventry are a small BS in the scheme of things and are beholden to their underwriters. So while they may accept you application quite smoothly, every key decision waits in a queue for the underwriting team. And due to the new mortgage rules, underwriters are understaffed and over-busy. Hang in in there anyway you'll succeed eventually.
