Help getting back on top of finances

Hi all

just looking for advice, for stupid reasons I won't go into, we are behind on a couple of debts, I cannot for the life of me seem to get back on top, whether it's a cash flow problem i'm not quite sure.

I get paid monthly and my husband weekly and it causes me such a headache!!

Anyone got any advice, do you think creditors would give us say a months grace to try and build up a little buffer to get back on top of things to start the month on an even keel? Anyone got any experience of this atall?

We have enough money coming in but it appears I either don't spread the direct debits out correctly or i'm just really rubbish with money.

I already have YNAB but even then it doesn't seem to work for me.

Any positive help appreciated.

Could you have a month or 2 of cutting back on all non essential spending to help build up a buffer for future months?

Or do you have any things you could sell to give the bufffer a kick start?

Other options might be seeing if you are in credit with say your gas & elec bills (assuming you pay by DD) and asking them for a refund or moving DD dates to slightly later in the month. Or if you pay your council tax over 10 months asking them if you can switch to repay the remainder over the full 10 months to slightly reduce the monthly bill.

As you are already behind with a couple of debts those creditors may be open to accepting a token payment for a month, but this will likely futher harm your credit file so I would avoid it if there is an alternative.
