Britannia Parking Waitrose Canterbury

Hi folks. I got an 'Notice to registered keeper' demanding £70 for over staying free parking at this supermarket. I have There is no point in my giving them the drivers details as they have no means of paying this charge. There is some debate as to whether the driver did park here at the date and time in question, is it possible that Britannia would issue a speculative demand based upon the knowledge that a previous ticket was paid in full no questions? They have provided no evidence to support the demand, eg photo or copy of ticket. Can I insist on this before considering my position?
Additionally, the notice refers to the POFA2012 schedule 4 paras 8(1)(c), 8(1)(b), and 8(1)(f) however I looked this up and there do not appear to be any sub paragraphs in 8(1), so does this make the notice technically invalid anyway and therefore grounds for appeal? Notwithstanding a charge for £70 (originally £40) which seems excessive for a free car park? Plus unspecified threats of 'pursuing me for recovery'- should these not be detailed?
I'd appreciate any comments, other threads and links don't quite seem to cover this scenario. Thx

I would do 2 things.
Send the appeal as per the newbie thread post 1 to Britannia Parking, making sure you appeal as registered keeper
Go to Waitrose and complain to the manager that as a customer you have been hit with this charge.
More will need to happen at POPLA but no one will be paying this charge.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Click on words Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Newbie thread is the first post. Blue New Thread button is just above it to left.0 -
You reply to the PPC saying you have no knowledge of this and are they sure. You believe that your car was elsewhere at the time. Ask for some photographic evidence in order that you can consider this further.
State that this should be considered as an initial appeal asking for more information complying with POFA and POPLA requirements.
Keep it straight, polite and nothing to give away that you are forum aided at this stage0 -
I appealed a Britannia Waitrose ticket once last year for a friend and complained to Waitrose as well. Britannia couldn't cancel it quick enough, straight back under their stone!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
