Drying clothes in the rain!

I love the idea of being able to tackle the laundry drying even when it's raining!!!
I'd like to hear reviews on the dryline or clothes mac etc.
Or if anyone has made one please can you share how you did it?
With the rain coming but also wind!!!!
My gazebo buckled which I had over my rotary which was good but took off due to the wind lol.
I'm looking into either purchasing a cover or making one (I have a sewing machine) with taupuling? Wanting some info or reviews on them.
I really don't want a tumble dryer due to the running cost, but I also need something to help me keep on top of the laundry as we are a family of four with some washing!!!
Thanks people.

Ps or is their a way I can cut and sew my gazebo cover and use that? As it will be thrown away due to the poles being bent.
Ps I posted this in the diy section but nobody has responded.

Hi
I have had the Rotaire dryline for some years now.
It's fab and in that time I have probably used my TD less than a dozen times. if the tumble dryer were to break, I don't think i would replace it.
It doesn't do everything it states, IMO, the advertising talks about a "funnell effect" aiding drying and I can't say it does that. But it is a ruddy great umbrella and i can put clothes out in the rain, or in the dry but not worry about them.
I tend to bring mine in and air them in the airing cupboard or on a rack in the conservatory - but I am paranoid about cothes not being dry.
This is my second one - the first lasted two years. The new one is better made though, and i anticipate it will last longer.

Thanks for your reply!
Can I ask have you used it in winter? Ie when snowing etc?
However my nanna uses the technique of if the ground doesn't look damp washing will dry?!Ds2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

I take it down when there is snow falling, or it is very windy - because it might get damaged.
I don't really notice the floor thing, i just hang it out and bring it in when i can put it in the airing cupboard. in winter it won't dry but will finish quicker indoors than if it hadn't been out.
My washing has been known to be outside for days.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I'm starting to think its worth an investment?! I wanted to ask before I purchased one, I don't want to pay the electric company anymore money than I have too. We have a new house and I don't want mould spores etc because I have to be careful after having pneumonia in the past.
I've hung washing out when it's been winter then finished it off on the airer inside and it's dried as long as I follows my nannas ground rule lol.
And to bring it back in around 4pm or at dusk or it gets damp again.Ds2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

Can't add anything useful to this thread but can have a proper grumble that despite my protestations that today would not be a good day for drying washing outdoors, my mum (staying over for a long weekend) decided it would be a good idea to ignore me and stripped my bedding and airing cupboard.
Surprise surprise, I've come home to wet sheets and towels.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

My washing goes out most of the year when not raining or snowing.
Winter it gets brought back in damp and I hang it on airers or plastic coat hangers to dry.
Our tumble dryer gets used when it has been raining for several days and the washing has piled up. Then i will use it more for towels and beding. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
I looked at the Rotaire link and thought 'That looks nice ours could do with replacing' ....then I saw the price ....nearly £200 for the big one !!
I think ours will do a bit longer and I'll manage with the 3 airers indoors when it rains !Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -
On really windy days Like today after the rain stopped, I'm ok here I have storm pegs or hurricane pegs they are also known as.
My neighbours washing however was all over her garden, mine all stayed on the line and rotary.
All bedding including whites n lights then colours n darks have all been dried.Ds2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

oystercatcher>>>>> im only looking to buy a cover. I believe you can purchase them on their own and just buy a standard rotary.
My rotary was only a £10 one from argos three years ago and their is nothing wrong with it.Ds2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j
