Is a loft extension possible...

Options
... on a victorian terrace house that has already had what looks like a second floor rear bathroom extension fitted above the kitchen?

The roof of this bathroom extension seems to slightly encroach on what would be the rear loft area. Would love to know asap as we're looking to make an offer in shortly...

sorry no pics as the message board won't allow it for new users :(

Thanks

    In theory everything is "POSSIBLE"
You need to consider the costs and what building regs and planning permission will apply to your proposed loft conversion......you havent provided enough detail for anyone to advise in any meaningful way, I dont think.
    Sorry

Have you checked the rest of the street to see if anyone else has done what you want to do? That's normally a pretty quick indicator...

sorry, i have an aerial shot of the house that explains it perfectly but no way of posting images as i'm a newbie :(

yes, other houses on the street have had the usual dormer plus 2 x velux loft extensions done but ours is the only house on the street without a conventional roof as the second floor bathroom extensions 'eats' into the standard roof area a little.

Any work arounds for posting up images??

There are many different criteria that the loft needs to be assessed against (headheights, stair angle etc) but that particular roof extension should not preclude the capability to build into the loft. It's possible that it may reduce usable space based on how it has been built, but even that can be altered.

What does draw my attention is the lack of other conversions (I can see one rooflight). This suggests a general issue with the criteria necessary to build a loft conversion or that loft conversions don't add much value in that location.
