wanting to reclaim ppi on an old car finance agreement

I took finance out on a car from what used to be Bristol trade centre back in 2003 and have recently been told I can claim back ppi that I was mis-sold.
My bank has given me the ref number and I rang black horse finance, who I thought was the lender but they tell me they don't recognise the reference I gave.
My bank statement says Online finance limited were the lenders and have no idea how to get hold of them or if they still exist?? Please help me!!

Assuming it was the car dealer who arranged the insurance and finance when you bought the car, it is to the dealer you must complain. However, this is a pre-regulation (january 2005) complaint for which the dealer would not have to entertain any complaint you might make.

No, because you want to complain about the (mis) sale of the PPI which (allegedly) took place in 2003. How long after regulation you were paying it is irrelevant.
