Going on holiday to weymouth

Hi everyone! I am very excited, we are due to go to weymouth for a week starting next Monday. We will be staying at Haven Seaview with our trailer tent.

Any suggestions of things to see and do? I want to make the most of it, never been down the south coast :)

There is loads to do in Weymouth and the surrounding area. The beach is lovely and there are quite a few quaint shops to wonder around. There is also a Sealife Centre there or at least there used to be. If you want to travel a little, especially if the weather is awful(hope not!) you could pay Bournmouth a visit where there are plenty of shops as well as a fantastic beach. Poole has the famous Sandbanks peninsular with a lovely long beach and you can get there from Weymouth by travelling to Swanage and then getting the little ferry across from Shell Bay - yet another lovely beach!

Whilst on the subject of bad weather (sorry but it has been chucking it down in Poole this afternoon!) you could go to Tower Park in Poole where they have cinema, bowling, swimming, restaurants etc. Away from the coast, there is Monkey World at Wool which isnt far from Weymouth. They have featured on the TV in the past and its a fab place to see monkeys that have been rescued. Also nearby is the Bovington Tank Museum.

As you can see, you will be spoilt for choice - really depends who is in your party and what your interests are. Whatever you do, hope you have a great time!

Thanks!we are going to visit the sealife centre, that looks like a lot of fun. On the Wednesday weymouth has its annual carnival, so we will be going to that! we will be going to pool,e thanks for the headsup about Towerpark and the sandbanks!

I have two children 5+8 so they will need entertaining!
  • last year when we was there for carnival they had fireworks on the beach, that was cool x

  • Bowleaze Cove, on the edge of Weymouth, has a nice little funfair for smaller children. They do a Happy Hour (at 7pm I think), when ride prices are very reasonable. Monkey World is definitely worth a visit. The Sealife Centre is nice, has an outdoor water play area. There is a Pirate-themed Crazy Golf next to Sealife (separate entry charge). Beach is lovely for children.
    Have a lovely time :-).

  • Portland lighthouse in Dorset. Not far from Weymouth

    Monkey World

Sea Life- mixed reviews. Not so cost effective if paying full prices especially. Try to get tickets via Tesco vouchers

You can get combined tickets with the sea life centre to the rotating tower thingy (can't recall) on the front not sure it's worth the money but as its cheaper when brought as a combined ticket might be ok?
