Thanks for all the info, have done the extra TSB joint now, like Archi, cannot see any other 5% ones.

Is there still a 6% regular saver at First Direct?
Free the dunston one next time too.

Yes, and there's a 4% paying regular saver at Lloyds...as well as their 4% (on £4-5K) Club current account.

These other higher interest accounts require direct debits setting up, now if you want to do Santander, Llyods Club and the others, I run out of direct debits. Is there a way round this, its not like setting up standing orders like for TSB Plus.

I've had as many as 8 or 9 DDs on my Tesco savings accounts at any one time.

    Problem?...what problem? :)

No problem if you are a seasoned multi-accounter, or spend a little time reading though various forum posts and putting one and one together.

Does this mean anyone else should "come away from using Tesco bank", why, and where to go instead? Who should be doing that?

no, i'm not suggesting that others should.. i have just had a bit of a tidy up, and with Friendly Society DDs, my Electricity DD, DDs to a Credit Union, and DDs to a Building Society, i have it covered.

i recently closed my Tesco creditcard, don't fancy their current account, and so would rather just cut TescoBank out of my system.

For someone who is a non tax payer, and is certain they will never need to pay income tax, a cash ISA is pretty much pointless at current rates. An S&S ISA might make sense if a larger investment can be made.

not quite sure that this statement applies to everyone.

my wife is a non tax payer as she does not earn more than her personal allowance , so its great when the tax man exempts her from all the , toisas , isas, nisas, that she has accumalated since 1990, she could have £100,000 in the bank & still be a non taxpayer,as long as she does not earn above the personal allowance.
