Bought shoes on eBay, disappointed in packaging

Not sure whether I'm just being picky, but story is.
Ordered some Dr Martens advertised as New in Box.
They came absolutely fine, but the postage packaging was 'the box' so the shoe box is covered in tape and 'ruined' if I wanted to keep them in box in my wardrobe, or even resell them as NIB.
Is this too much to have a gripe over? Maybe I'm sad but I keep all my shoes in their original boxes purely for storage and finding them again purposes.

IMO, yes it is a nick pick complaint. The shoes themselves are fine?. The seller could have put the box in a carrier bag or soemthing but imo it isn't something most people would care about.
I suppose it also depends on how much they charges for postage, if the actual delivery cost 5 quid & they charges you 8 for PP then I woudl complain just out of principle, but I personally keep my delivery costs low by not using "proper" packaging, most everything is padded if needed, wrapped in a carrier bag then package taped to an inch of it's life. It saves the buyer 1-2 pounds as I don't need to buy fancy envelopes but I also would never send a shoe box taped up without a carried bag or some kind of paper first.I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

As the box was mentioned as part of the listing then yes I would expect box to be wrapped to keep it clean and tape free as well.
I sell small boxed collectible items new in boxes, and package them in another box for shipping.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I suppose it has annoyed me due to how they were advertised as 'with orginal box' and 'BNWB' etc. Theyre not brand new with the original box now, well they are but its got tape all over it haha
I might just email that I'm a bit upset about it and see what they say. It was sent with Hermes and they charged £4, I'm not familiar enough with Hermes to know how much they charge. I know my Dad sends a lot of stuff for £1.75 with Hermes but I'm not sure if shoes would go for that.0 -

Exactly, Ive sold shoes before and I've simply wrapped brown packing paper around it or put it in a plastic envelope. (or asked if they were bothered to make shipping cheaper for them and sent them out of the box)0 -

The cheapest MyHermes is £2.78 but I suspect Dr Ms are likely to be in excess of 1kg.
The cost of postage is immaterial really though , sellers should send and pack appropriately .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I think he's been tickling your ears, plus eBay take fees on the £2.78 figure quoted.I wonder if my Dad got a special deal as I post stuff for him and its been £1.75, how odd!Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Thought I would post an update. I sent the seller a message just saying I was a little disappointed with the packaging. They replied saying We apologise for what's happened, it was an oversight on the part of the person wrapping, as we usually would over-wrap a new box to preserve it which is what I expected, and they have refunded £5 as goodwill which I am more than happy with.
Thanks for all advice given!0 -

That's a good result, the seller obviously has good customer service.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
