0843 050 0645 two rings and hangs up

I just had a call on my mobile from this; two rings and it hung up.

A search suggests that it may be a boiler company, but there are questions about its bonafides.

I think the idea is that you call them back on their premium rate number and they get some money for your efforts (maybe putting you on hold to help string out the time).

So don't bother ringing back.

(I added it to my iPhone's "Block this caller" list.)

complete bliss since I bought this

I now block all 084* numbers as they're all pretend.

A fixed line call blocker is not much good on a mobile though.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Just had a call from this one too. 2 rings and done. Looked up the number and found this thread.

    Indeed :D

If you have an Android there's no end of blocker apps. Samsung do one built into most of their phones which is excellent.

I divert all my mobile calls to my house now anyway (when I'm there) as I prefer the blocking to be done by the CPR unit.

Still at it- exactly the same as posters above.
Never ring any 08 numbers from my mobile anyway.

My daughter works for Virgin, and when she rings me from the office it always shows up as an 0844 number, even though I can ring her on an 01 number to reach the very same phone.
