After years of buying vacuum cleaners on offer and rarely having them last more than a year I bought a refurbished Dyson DC39 from Argos Outlet on ebay. Only way I could afford to buy one. Because I now have two dogs, one of which sheds a lot and they both track in mud etc.., and having back problems that make cleaning difficult this seemed a good buy.
And yes, instead of vacuuming and then having to sweep as well to get rid of all the bits, the dyson left the floor clean enough for it to just need a quick mop. Saved me a lot of discomfort. Instead of spending over an hour cleaning the floor, it was under half an hour. Couldn't have been happier.
Then the true test. The triggerhead broke, took it apart, one part of it was jammed (no bits stuck in it). Ooops. Even refubished Argos offered a year guarantee, same as Dyson. Triggerhead was £66 to replace, which I couldn't afford. But I have dealt with Argos before and knew they'd insist on me returning the whole dyson and then I'd have to wait for a refund and try and find another dyson I could afford. Not good.
So I phoned Dyson Customer support. Within 5 mins, I had a new triggerhead on its way to me. Wonderful. Still can't believe it!
Dyson have a customer for life. Hopefully next time I'll be able to afford the full price lol. I did buy one of the first dyson's and remember they freely replaced the upright I'd bought for a cylinder when I didn't get on with the upright. But I went off them when they stopped being completely UK based (which was one of their selling points at the time). But based on how well they clean and their customer services, I will definitely stick to Dyson in future.
And having just read the customer service thread.., yes I did thank the Dyson customer service person very much.

I think Dyson's are good, but overpriced, they are the Apple of vacuum cleaners.
Me I have a Henry, and he never lets me down!!0 -
IIRC Dysons (uprights) normally have a five year warranty, or did the last couple of times I bought one (my sister needed a hoover and we ended up giving her a 2 year old one as we got a good price on a new one), and their support is good.
IIRC it's not uncommon for them to do a complete refurb for the basic call out fee if it's out of warranty, regardless of what the main problem is (I've heard of them being called out to replace a motor, and replacing any worn parts).0
