(I did see something somewhere some time ago that did have its own self-contained non-trivial cooking system. Can't remember what it was, though.)

You can get self-heating cans , where piercing the can causes various chemicals in the base to combine and produce heat. Its used for coffee and other "hot drinks on the go" , but I dont know how sucessfull/hot they can get.
