Help on Child Tax Credits

Looking for some advice on Child Tax Credits!! Since the £50,000 earnings limit came in I have paid back overpayments for 2012-2013 tax year!! However having just filed my 2013-2014 online tax form I am told I owe over £1,000 for Child Tax Credits for the year 2013-2014 (I finally stopped the Child Tax Credit in January 2014). I thought that my tax code would have changed so that more tax was taken from my salary since April 2014 so that any money owed (just over £1,000) was paid back over the year rather than one lump sum!! Any ideas???

You are talking about child tax credit in your post, but the £50,000 limit sounds like child benefit.

Can you confirm which one you are talking about as they are two completely different things?

My husband has had his tax code changed for 2014-15 to adjust his tax for the child benefit this year but for last year 2013-14 he will have to do a tax return we understand to pay it back (we became ineligible in the middle of the year due to a significant payrise). I don't think they were able to reclaim last years via this years tax code. Sounds like you are doing the same thing.
