hello
i am a disabled mum starting a university course in september. i dont need much help as should be able to adapt into a student. i have a mental and physical disablilties.
my main concern is house mess. as a family will are all getting togther and helping out around the house however, i am concerned we may not be able to keep a clean house as we already struggle with it.
would it be possible i could ask dsa for a household helper. if the house is a mess i will not be able to consirate on my studies and my family will also suffer. i fear we will be living in a jungle.
once every few months we have to get outside help to clean the house, with me going into full time education i can only see the problem getting worst.
could dsa help?

DSA is not for care needs or household needs, it is to provide direct education support, such as a note taker, dictaphone, extra time in exams etc.0

I use my DLA to employ a cleaner - for me it's an appropriate use of the money at the moment.
I get DSA, but I couldn't get my head around having someone to help me in the library etc but I have made use of the internet allowances, and equipment that they sorted for me, that's been really useful. As pp says, DSA is for very specific things, and not a sum of money that you're given.0 -
DSA is extra help you'd need as a student and not general disability costs. If you weren't a student. you'd still need a clean house, no?Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

We do often get outside household help.. I pay for it however, as a student I will give up my job so money will be much tighter. My husband will need to take on overtime to compensate for the drop in income. I did think the need for help we directly related to my starting studying a full time uni course. I have been out of education for so long, I find studying very difficult esp with my mental health. Thanks for the posts I understand it a little better.0
