Buying a Car Park Space

I have seen ads for "investment opportunities" involving buying car parking specs at places like Glasgow Airport, offering 8% returns. These sound a bit too good to be true. Are they?

Have you got an answer for why they would pay a private investor 8% when they can get banks loans at 4-6%, and could pocket all the profit themselves?Something smells very bad there.

from one of the many sites offering these

not licensed or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and does not provide financial advice. We strongly recommend that you seek appropriate professional advice before entering into any contract.

    and from another

Do I need to use a solicitor to

    prepare the leases/contracts?

Our in-house commercial agent will prepare a licence

agreement/contract for customers to sign and therefore no

    solicitors are (legally) required

Unregulated investments which give no consumer protection when they go wrong. Your instinct was correct - best to avoid.

    Thats Glasgow Airport for you.

Regarding the "investment", it is at best unregulated and at worst potentially a scam.
  • Purely out of interest, what was the name of the company or scheme offering these "investment opportunities"?
