Hi all
Firstly apologies if this has already been covered a gazillion times. I can't seem to find a clear cut answer and keep reading mixed reports.
I have a question re using an AmEX charge card on PayPal.
will using my amex charge card to send payment via paypal earn me MR points? Does it depend on the transaction type I.E does it have to be a purchase or can I transfer money to a friend using my paypal but selecting AMEX as the source of funds?
I need to transfer over £1000 to a friend for a purchase so may as we'll try to earn some MR points in the process...
Thanks

Amex will consider this as a transaction, and you will be rewarded your points, however PayPal will charge you 3.4% fee if you use your credit card to send personal payments.0

@Chin,
3.4% is a high fee to be paying just to transfer money. Why not use bank transfer if its a friend? £34 in fees alone on your £1000 transaction.
Maybe you're doing it for the bonus points on your amex, but it would still be expensive to do, I'd say.0 -
Yes good point and definitely acknowledged.
£34 is a lot to transfer money but as you say it'll be to claim the 1000 MR points.
I'll check out the value of purchasing 1000 points and see how it compares.0 -
Just seen that with Virgin Atlantic to buy 1000 miles costs £30 so it's more expensive doing the AMEX/PayPal transaction for this amount(@£34)....
Shame0 -

I don't think you have quite got this. You need to use the value of spending Virgin miles, which is rarely going to be more than 1p per mile - meaning that 1000 miles is worth £100
