Ryanair app

There was a thread about this a while back which I cant now see but someone asked for feedback on how it worked - this was linked to problems printing out paper tickets whilst abroad.

Well having traveled last week from East Mids to Carcassone and back I can report that the app was great. Our flights were booked some months back for 4 adults (me, wife and 2 teenage kids), out one Friday and back the week later. My daughter downloaded the Ryanair app to her iPhone a week before the flight and the checked in all of us for both flights at the same time. The app then displays the required codes for all passengers and you just show it at the luggage drop. No problems at either airport, although the Ryanair web site does have a small list of airports where it cannot be used.

From the passenger perspective I have to say that I think this is a great development and saves all the faffing around with bits of paper and printing etc. There are a couple of thoughts I had though. When you get to check in you of course previously had your own printed boarding card. Now they have to go back to the old system and print one out for you as the overall security systems at the airports are not yet configured to work without bits of paper that security and other staff can check. This of course is nothing to do with Ryanair but for the airports must represent a backwards step. And why do I need to show a boarding card to buy a bottle of water from a shop in the so called duty free area?

Rude and abrupt, why are so many posters on here like this these days, honestly is it me or is it getting worse?

Its a simple question, I was asked to show a boarding card twice last week to buy items in the duty free area at East Mids, I've also noticed this at many other similar airport areas. Being a normal member of the public I complied with the requirement, it was not really worth the hassle of not doing so and as I had the pass to hand I showed it. I was simply asking if anyone knows the reason behind the request.

They are just compiling data of where their customers fly to. There's no requirement for things like a bottle of water, magazine etc.

I've been refusing this for the past 18 months, nothing happens.
