Wrong car details on vehicle report

I went to view a 2nd hand car today that was advertised on auto trader, I didn't buy it as wasn't too happy with condition of the vehicle. I almost bought it and I thought I would do a vehicle check on the auto trader website which checks for write offs etc. BUT the check shows the car is a grey mazda 6 ts. However the car I viewed was black and the the ts2 model. The dvla gov website also says the car should be grey.

Is it common for wrong details to be held or is it likely the car has had its plates changed?

It's not common, but not impossible, if in doubt leave it out, which you did.
Let some other buy it and we can read their thread later.

What does the manufacturer call the colour? What was on the logbook?

Ford made the model T. You could have any colour you liked as long as it was black. Many many shades of black. Or maybe if you ordered a red one they didnt bother cleaning the paint gun so got a lot of black mixed in also?

Ive had cars with red on the logbook buy every shade of red, pink, purple you can think of.

Rarely do they bother to put the full colour name down.

    brilliant black I believe

    Grey

Yes I've experienced that, but Grey instead of black and also the wrong model listed too? The condition of the vehicle doesnt seem to tally with its 50k mileage. My current 150k mile car is in better condition.

I'm going to leave well alone anyway.

Did you check the VIN against the V5C?
