I have gotten poundshops ones before that fall to pieces easily so dont want one of them however I do not want to be paying a huge amount either.
It may be cheaper I assume to get a pound one just for the handle part and a seperate head for a few quid
Is this the best way? And does anyone have any opinions on what to get?

Personally, I always buy a string mop with steel socket (like this one) and fit this into my existing wooden handle (stale). I always "bend" the tubular metal type handles and break the plastic sockets on the heads

However, I have a really good local old fashioned DIY/ironmongers, and the last time I bought one, it was only £1.50ish, and that was a couple of years ago - although I think I'm about due for a new one now. The stale's probably about 10 years old, so I think I've had good vfm :money:
Maybe not the best choice if you use the mop on wooden/laminate floors - the steel socket can scratch if you're heavy handed (but I have tiled ceramic floors and it's never been a problem for me

I've always bought Vileda. The bucket I've had for years and the mop handles usually last quite a few years too, only problems I've ever had with the handles is they rust down the bottom so it makes it hard to change the mop heads. Same goes for mop heads, always vileda, I have bought Tesco own make ones before but they just don't last very long at all.0
