Please would someone be kind enough to check the RBS PPI offer below looks correct:

Total refund of PPI premiums and associated interest paid to date £681.46
Statutory interest at 8% added to each PPI premium payment from the date of each payement £735.54
Less income tax -£147.11
Net offer £1269.89

Loan taken out back in 1999.

Was this a goodwill gesture or was it upheld ?.

You get the PPI back (do you know how much this was?) that you paid with the interest on that and the 8% if it was upheld, if the loan was finished early then you did not pay all of the PPI.

If you are a non taxpayer, contact HMRC and ask for the tax back, unless you are a higher rate taxpayer then you owe them some more.
