    Just to ask another question, do insurance companies add an excess to premium if an import?

    Its not if its "euro spec", its where its been registered as new originally outside of the UK that they will want to know.

    That will be on your V5.

    Hi Paul, do you know if RoI cars are euro spec or UK spec or how could I find out or is it just based on country of 1st registration for insurance purposes?

    There can be some spec differences - some cars from the republic have lower spec or different model naming.

    If you ring your insurance company and let them know its from the republic they will quote accordingly.

    The expense normally comes if its a japanese import.
