secondhand0

Why? The cars are more expensive in the South unless your after something rare0
-
Yeah its an import, also I have found a lot of cheaper cars in the south and more choice. Depends what you are after. For example any large engine car is cheap because they have to pay over 1k a year to tax it!0

If you can buy a big car cheap enough it might be ok?
I think you can claim a percentage of the VRT tax back from the Eire Gov once the car has been registered in the uk.

No vat on secondhand but reg fee of £55?

NI forum, am just about to do this, apparently the last registered owner car reclaim a proportion of VRT back when registered in another EU country when permanently exported.
Apart from £55 registration fee up North, any other fees?
Its a 1996 car, big engine so annual road tax is €1809 in RoI !!!!0 -
I think nearly all my answers are on this website, might need an up-date though as dated 2010, thanks to speedyreg.co.uk

And yes the seller/owner can reclaim VRT based on vehicle's current value, with the euro at €1.35 currently, there is the odd deal to be had!0 -
a 1996 car will have a very low value either side of the border unless its something classic so VRT claim back will be negligible0
