Excel and rossendales debt collection notice

We have today received a debt collection notice from Rossendales Collect saying that the debt has been passed to them and I have 7 days to pay £150. It also says we have ignored all other letters.
We have never had a parking ticket or any other letters before this one. What should we do it is addressed to my dad but it doesn't say what car or car park or when etc this is the first we have heard. Thanks

Ignore them! Rossendales have probably sent out hundreds of these threat-o-grams in the last few days, you must the 10th person coming here with this today! Is it for prior to October 2012?

Rossendales are sending out debt collection toilet paper on very old cases at the moment. Are you sure you didn't have a ticket, maybe four or more years ago?
  • No 100% my dad has never had a ticket before. Thanks for the replies

How long ago did you buy the car? And what date do they say this happened, it must say on the letter, and if it doesn't its worthy of a complaint to the dvla , the bpa and ico

So as a "Notice to keeper" which it effectively is, it fails miserably on just about every count.

Yes echo advice to ignore. Read newbies thread post 4 to see what it says. But do not respond to Rossendales. They have obviously decided to spend their summer holidays fishing!

  • My dad has a new car every 3 years. The letter is just from rossendales it states this:

    Client: excel parking services ltd
    Client ref: xl#######
    Our ref: #######
    Date 6th August 2014

    Dear mr ********
Your debt has been passed to us by the above client we are instructed that you ignored previous requests for payment and we intend to recover your outstanding debt immediately.

Unless you pay us the debt amount in full within 7 day or contact or immediately with your proposals recovery action will commence.

Bluff, bluster and hot air. And that's putting it politely.

  • I too today received the exact same letter, £150 fine to pay in 7 days. The only thing I can think of is 2 years ago I refused to pay an excel parking fee. I parked in a car park and the ticket machine hadn't changed the time when the clocks changed so instead of printing 11.47 return time it printed 12.47 which I took to be my 'contract'. They caught me by camera entry and exit of the car park (not a council run one). I followed advice from MSE and ignored the letters and it went away.
Shall I just ignore this letter too? Feels a bit threatening?!

Tired and stressed, yes you should ignore. But if you need to know anything more read post 4 of newbie thread and post your own thread asking questions!

    Feels a bit threatening?!

they havent "gone away" until 6 years have passed (Mcol rules)

    YES, ignore the debt collectors

DO NOT IGNORE any LBC or MCOL though

they are supposed to threaten and to intimidate, as all they can do is use words that are threatening or intimidating, due to the fact that they cannot do anything else

post back if you ever get an LBC or MCOL from the PPC or landowner

and DO read the post referred to in the previous reply , as welll as the first reply in this thread (post #2)
