JSA: Signed off for self-employed, sign back on?

Hello

Basically I signed off JSA a week and a bit ago for a commission only job which was on a self-employed basis however the stint was unsuccessful for a few reasons and now I'm unsure of what to do as I feel I cocked up badly, I'd like to sign back on but I'm not sure I can?

It wasn't a regular job I signed up for, in-fact there were no contracts just agreements say I was a rep and it's self-employed and I thought that I could do it as although commission only it seemed like a good opportunity with quick career progression yet after a week I felt defeated, hell after one day I was defeated, I couldn't deal with the constant no, no, no I was getting in some of the rudest possible ways. It's fair to say I broke down in a major way.

Does anyone know whether I can sign back on as I'm in a desperate financial hole which JSA would help me fix temporarily.

Thank you for taking the time to read and hope you can offer some help :)

  • Hi

dont see why you couldnt to be honest...ring them up or you should be able to make a 'rapid reclaim' online
  • At least do an online claim and see what they say.

Yes, you are able to either claim JSA(income-based) online or continue as self-employed and claim Working Tax Credits (backdated to when you went self-employed) - which tend to be c£55/wk and so lower than the £71.70/wk of JSA for those aged over 25.

For both cases you may also be eligible for HB/LHA, free prescriptions and so on.
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.
