Tesco online ordering

This is just a little thing but it is curious to me. Further to the boots discussion elsewhere about two for one deals I have had a problem with Tesco when ordering online also.
When I shop online I first go to the offers section and do as much as possible at a reduced rate - sensible i would have thought. So i ordered two boxes of cereal on a two for £2 offer (incidently this offer actually has 2 boxes of cereal at less than buying just one).
When my order arrived I found that the second item was "unavailable" and so i was charged the full price for one. I am willing to accept that - maybe - the offer was popular and so my second box wasn't there but upon asking how this worked inregard to getting the offer, the delivery man told me that "Well some people who shop online just shop for the offers and nothing else. It's not fair on others who go to the shop".
the implication (although he didn't say it outright) is that they do all they can to avoid you getting the deals. While they might substitute items in other areas they didn't think of putting a different box of cereal in (or even the same one twice) so I would be able to maximise the offer.
I do'nt see it as a scam but i do wonder if they are encouraged to shop on your behalf in this way. This has happened to me several times. Anyone else?

Has happended to me a few times. I phoned up and told them i wasnt happy and got my money back. Usually on the BOGOF's it happens to me.0

if you realise when the driver is still at your house you can give the stuff back to the driver and you will be refunded0

Surely if its 2 for £2 you get the 2 o if not possible you get the next best thing as a replacement eg tescos cornflakes on offer at 2 for £2 but only 1 box of tesco cornflakes so you should get the same or nearest size box in weight as a replacement
thats how it would work if you shopped in the supermarketNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20 -
I always check my receipt quickly first and if I see stuff unavailable and it's part of a twofer or bogof I refuse the other item and get it refunded if it's something I only got because it was on offer. The other alternative is to put notes on when you buy things that are on offer stating that you only want it if the other item is also in stock, that way they know they'll lose out. I didn't get some packs of tinned tuna the other week so next time I ordered I put a note on saying I wanted the other tuna that was on offer if it wasn't in stock, I figured they would have to have at least one variety in stock.0

i once claimed the free hotcross buns on the online offer, now i dont like them but thought i could bring them to my mum and baby group. I then noticed they had run out so just given me a larger sized pack and charged me for it! Rather peeved so told them so and they let me keep it for free anyway refunding the price. You can add a note onto your order though to be fair saying what u want them to do if they dont have what u want0

I've had this happen but when you look on the part of your order it will say that any items that you don't get might be substituted, if you don't want it then give it back to he driver and the money will be put back on your card.
I got bleach, 2 for £2.00 but they sent a cheaper brand at the same price, I asked the driver how much these were on there own, he said about 89p. I said ake them back, hows that a subsitute? Please do not feed the Trolls!0 -
You should also keep your eye on the prices if you buymagazines/papers online. They charge ££££ extra for them!0

This happened to me aswell. I probably wouldnt have brought them either but they were free so i thought what have i got to lose. When i got my delivery i checked my order paper and it said i was charged for the hot cross buns. I emailed them and explained this to them.
They emailed me back saying this had happened to alot of people and it was a fault on there website. They refunded me my money so i wasnt too bothered but its always best to check everything.
Like i ordered 2 lots of bacon and only one lot came so i emailed them and they have no problem refunding you the money for the items you have not recieved.
I find Tesco's most helpful in situations like this.Offical MSE Fantasy League Member:beer:0
