Opening Singapore Bank Account - Considerations?

My graduate son's thinking of taking a position in Singapore until the employment situation picks up here (Full Employment is diving down, only part time can be said to be improving) but the company want the successful candidates to be paid into Singapore bank accounts. Seems logical but are there any extra considerations/disadvantages?

I don't really understand the point of your question, if the employer requires a Singapore bank account then that's what your son will have to have, regardless of any "considerations/disadvantages".

If the underlying reason for you post is to find out which bank account might be most suitable to his circumstances, then that's probably something that the forum can help with.

thank you, yes he realises that all the candidates are going along with it and registering with the bank the company uses, but i wondered whether there are other things to be mindful of such as the tax situation for uk nationals working long-term in Singapore, what happens at the end of the contract, overdraft charges etc. I realise I'm being paranoid but youngsters are often so keen and headstrong they don't research things properly! Perhaps I should have asked about tax, not banks!
