Autumn Bulbs
This is the year that I am getting my spring flowering bulbs planted on time! So where is the best place to get bulbs at this time of year? I am thinking of Alliums, snowdrops etc and just wondered if there was a supplier anyone would recommend

As far as I know there isn't really a best place. Just get the bulbs you want from where ever is local to you. Its how you plant them that matters.
I've never grown alliums but as far as I know they like to be compacted, so if you grow them in a pot and you think they look compacted, then bung in a couple more and that should be okay.
Snowdrops, you buy 'in the green' which means you buy plants which come as a bunch of green shoots with the bulbs attached at the base. Usually late January, so you will have to wait a year. You then plant each plant from the bunch and that is pretty much it.0 -

I was in our local large garden centre yesterday (Dobbies) and the staff were in the process of setting up a huge area for the spring bulbs. Would imagine other places are doing the same.
I wouldn't plant any spring flowering bulbs yet and any bought now will need to be stored carefully until it is time to plant.0 -
Look in
supermarkets.
crocus bulbs will be availaible too, not just in the green.0 -
Wilkinson has them now, agree about snowdrops, you may get away with planting dry ones, at least if they fail you can buy "in the green" early next yearWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0
