drydensfairfax solicitors/max recovery

Hi all,
I originally had a loan from Northern Rock, paid that off and got another one. Over the phone. I then got into some difficulties and went into an IVA, this as around 9-10years ago. The IVA failed and only a couple debtors were paid. I never heard from Norther rock. I lived at my parents at the time.
I then moved and lived at my next address for 5years, around 3mth ago i got a letter NR saying i was due PPI and it was being removed from the debt, i never replied.
Yesterday i got a letter at my parents house from Max recoveries saying they had taken over the debt. Today i received a letter from drydensfairfax solicitors saying they are now working for Max recoveries to get the debt. What should i do? This is not on my credit record and hasnt been for 2-3years neither is the IVA.
I have recently in the last month taken out a mortgage and am worried sick again now. I got into a right state last time with depression, mood changes etc due to the debts and all the threats etc. Just when i thougt things were back on track i now get this :-(
what should i do?

If you haven't paid or acknowledged it in writing for 6 years, it's statute barred. Check with national debtline that's still the case if included in failed IVA.

I know it was statue barred. If a 3rd party contacted them regarding ppi would that start the time again? Ill have to check yoday and see if they did.
As the debt was unsecured, would this affect my car and house now i have them?

Once it is statute barred, that can never be undone.

NR must have realised the PPI was mis-sold and refunded it.

Can only affect your house if it went to court etc, but as its SB that can be avoided.

Send the SB letter to drydensfairfax

It cant be undone after the 6 years, what would happen if I contacted them regarding the debt?
Is it worth me contacting this drysdenfairfax then? Or wait and see what they send?
Has anyone had any dealings with these? Are they solicitors or another DCA? Where do Max recoveries come into this?

Max are a DCA, who employ/have a solicitor with a fancy name to write letters to scare you into paying.

If you contact them without writing and telling them it's SB, they will assume you don't know and continue to hassle you.

You can offer them a full and final payment to go away (in writing), say 10% or less. But as it's SB, nothing they can legally do if you don't pay.

    Send them the SB letter.

As HB says - send them the SB letter.

Not sure why you would want to offer payment subsequently, but 10-20% should be acceptable if you do want to do a F&F.

You must tell them its statute barred, once you have done that, they should back off, they use fancy names to intimidate you, but a spade is always a spade.
Send the SB letter, that should be the end of it.

I had a letter from drydens at the beginning of this year saying that as it had already been CCJ'd they wanted payment on behalf of DCA, or they was going to instruct a county court baliff to come round.
As i'm in the process of paying all my creditors off I didn't contact them and waiting for there next letter however in 5 months I have not heard anything else from them.

So could be your choice to wait and see if they contact you again or SB letter to them.
